And honestly, I think the company has a point about China. I personally know of a lot of Chinese products out of there that have hurt and killed animals here.
Previously my cats were indifferent to catnip, akin to a person smoking low-quality weed...
The Cat Crack Catnip initially sends them into overdrive and then...well, you can see for yourself in the photo...
Reminds me of the old PSA ads in the 70s that is a bit reworded here: "If you don't talk to your cats about catnip, who will?"
I do recognize that I am also their cat crack dealer...buy this for kitty bliss!
I have 1 cat, 2 feral cats that live in our yard and a few other cats that just enjoy hanging out with my cats.
All of them love this stuff. I sprinkle it in their house and they all go nuts for it. 2 of the cats it makes them mellow. They just like chillin' and rolling around in it. The other 3 it makes them wild, energetic, and goofy.
Product is good quality stuff and everyone seems to be enjoying it, myself included.
But, I'm pretty worried about sharp pieces in them. I'd be okay with a little, but there's a LOT of them. I think they're stems, but some of them are so sharp and hard that I really thought that they were wood chips at first.
The catnip works, and my cats love it, but I don't want to risk them ingesting the sharp bits.
But again he loves it. Just be careful with your cats reaction and be prepared for your cat to try and wrestle the jar out of your hand.
Put some on their cat tree to encourage them to scratch on it.
Yes, my cat was a little aggressive. Oh - he was happy. But he held on tight to my hand, stuck his nose in the container and was licking the stuff.
And then, when the catnip is removed, everything goes back to normal.
Total success and blissfully happy furballs.
I can put it in his toys because it’s a container full of loose catnip.
He has gotten so fond of it that he just eats it straight from the container!
FYI-I wouldn’t leave it open for them without supervision. I looked away and he had knocked it all over the floor.
Playtime!!!
Not as crazy like the famous video, but they love it…
He sits on the table for more. Other cats runs to the sound of opening cap. Both go nuts! Someday they're mellow and some days are going crazy!!
Otherwise she really likes this.
That said, she does actually like it and responds to this more than any other catnip I’ve introduced to her! And it is cute!
I highly recommend and if your kitty has a a laughable fun reaction, please post it!!!
This is way better than anything I've got from a grocery or pet store. The smell is more potent and the product looks fresher. I started on the 1 cup by package to try it and since have went to the 4 cup pack for the better value. When it runs out, I'll buy more.
I give it to them no more often than every other day, and sometimes it is several days in between because I read that they react better, and it seems to hold true.
If you have a cat, I suggest giving this one a try. Just drop a little pinch on the floor in front of them. Some will eat it, others roll in it. I've not seen one who didn't seem to love it.
Only word of warning- if you roll this between your fingers to release more herb oils, you may also get the occasional splinter.
She keeps saying that she can quit anytime she wants but I don’t believe her. Who knows what she is doing when we sneaks out at night. She was going through my closet looking for it or something she can trade for it.
We are organizing an intervention for her tomorrow. I’m locking the car door and going to tell her she will have wet in the living room. That’s where we will do it.
Cons: when I say raw form, that is all the talk of splinters you will see on the reviews. Do we like splinters in our fingers? No. Do we like them in our kitties bellies? Heck no! Those could cause major health issues! The solution is easy, but another purchase- I use a spice grinder as pictured for the monthly catnip shaker allocation.
Pros: I buy bulk so there’s always enough and even more for friends. My neighbors cat who “hates catnip” loves the little bag of ground Cat Crack, we call it kitty keef. My older cat becomes a kitten again and wiggle worms about on the floor. My little ones zoomie and murder mitten harder. When planning a trip I pop a couple scoops in the (cleaned) coffee maker for a relaxing catnip tea option beside their water bowl. I little goes a long way and the product lasts longer than I expect even with gifting the other cat parents around.
The spice grinder is an absolute MUST though.
The cats love it.
It's a good value if you buy this much at a time but it will probably last a couple of years.
I noticed the seal was not really airtight this time but the product still made my cats happy which was the desired outcome. We get a kick just watching them get so excited over this stuff. It's hilarious watching two laced up cats and then watching them just chill and stare all bug eyed.
I've seen people on crack, this isn't that for cats :P
I grow catnip and they even prefer this to the fresh leaves. As other reviewers have noted, it does have a dried stem or two in each serving, but they're easy to pick out if you worry about them getting stuck inside your cats.
This is my second purchase of this item. I almost didn't buy it again because, the first time, I was shocked at the amount of the product was composed of hard splinters and stems that could injure my cat's mouth. I carefully picked them all out, and I wish I had taken a picture and posted it back then. The catnip I had bought previously (Kong Naturals) was no longer for sale--that stuff was excellent. Like a tin of oregano, nice and uniform.
Why did I buy this again? I educated myself more about what catnip is, and I realized that some stems/splinters are almost impossible to avoid in this product (Although Kong Naturals proves it can be done). This time around, there were many fewer dangerous pieces, which I appreciated. I did get a painful splinter as I went through the contents of the jar, however! Imagine that in your cat's mouth...
One beef: The plastic jar is not sealed at all. Yeah, the lid is a screw-top, but for such an expensive product for the weight, I would have liked a actual seal on the jar to keep it fresh for longer till I open it.
All cat people know that animals react differently to catnip , food preferences all of that so I can’t blame the product for his lack of love of the product. It seem fine to me. he just couldn’t get into it. I would still recommend you try it.
to me it seemed great. I keep trying!
My cat doesn’t really care for it. I don’t know why. I don’t know that I can blame the product I think it’s just my cat the product looked fresh is felt really good to me cat was interested it’s filling it clicked on it but did not respond the way he does certain fresh cabinet but other cabinets so I don’t think I can blame it I think it’s just different cats with different products so you’ll have to try it yourself. That’s why I couldn’t put a value for the money on it because I don’t know it isn’t for me.
Amazing product!!!😂😅
My mother had it and her cats get totally high when we use it. They love it. I tried it on my two and they were *sniff* “and?”. Can’t explain it. Maybe my cats are wierd or need a heavier catnip?
The product does feel fresh and does have a different kind of smell.
Will keep trying and see if they get addicted.
Placing my third order now! Stray kitty had her babies but still enjoys the Cat Crack along with baby daddy. What baby daddy doesn’t know is I’m going to pick up a trap this week to take away his baby makers. 😂 Mama will be following as soon as the babies are weened. In the meantime stray kitties get some joy out of life also.
UPDATE!!! I updated with a picture of Bloody Mary (it was either that or Cersei Lannister for a name) as she is now basically bowling our door down daily for this! She gets her dose of Cat Crack and then will try to maim us. It was the husband today who got battle wounds. Must be love.
If anyone is wondering, yes, she’s pregnant. We’ve been working closely with a rescue so mama and babies have somewhere to go after she gives birth (and mama gets spayed!). By the time she showed up at our home she was visibly pregnant and it was too late to do much.
This stuff is UNBELIEVABLE! Stay tuned for a whole novel!
We have a stray kitty who adopted us. She’s a really sweet little thing who is timid, yet loving. We’ve only had her for maybe 3 weeks when she showed up on our back porch hungry and in need of vet attention. The Cat Crack came in and I immediately poured some out for her and she went to town! She must have rolled in it for a good 15 minutes. Then groomed herself, and rolled some more!
Now cue stray #2 (I have no idea where these strays are coming from, we’ve been doing trap, neuter and release to try to help along with working with a rescue to get them homes). A real beast of a lady who tore my hand open 2 days ago and about castrated my husband 3 days ago. She loves to come up to meow for food, but don’t get too close or you’ll end up on the wrong side of her wrath. Well about 20 minutes after pouring some Cat Crack inside for our adopted stray, she came to the door screaming for some dinner. My youngest opened it and she promptly walked it and right to the Cat Crack that was leftover. Mind you this is a real she lion and I was scared for my life. She then proceeded to roll in it for a good 10 minutes. At that time whatever was left was firmly ahered to her fur so I decided to open the jar and hold it down near her. Big mistake. She came at me like a bull seeing red. I was quivering internally as she violently shoved her face into the Cat Crack and took a huge mouth full and then proceeded to violently knock it from my hand. I picked up the remaining jar and slowly backed up at the point as she was growling and purring at me at the same time. Here comes another 20 minutes of rolling what was on the floor and falling over. It was quite entertaining to be honest and better than any reality tv show. I regret not recording it or at least taking some pics now, but at the time I feared for my life from the she-devil. All this time our adopted kitty was in witness protection since she knows she doesn’t stand a chance against Athena, Warrior Princess. Well, I’m sitting there contemplating how to get Satan’s spawn out of my house when my husband walks in. Bingo! Sacrifice! I set him up with a can of wet food to bribe her out the door. She eventually followed him after some growling and a swat or 2, but sat looking through the French doors after mournfully. Or violently...still trying to decide which.
What all this comes down to is all sorts of kitties love Cat Crack! From the meek and sweet to the loud and homicidal. I’m actually about to place another order now so I don’t get jumped the next time I go out. 10/10 recommend!
Bought this because my cat found a small pouch of catnip that was included with an old toy that we had forgotten about.
He really loved that particular catnip and would bother me for his occasional treat of it, so I figured just to buy a container of it as a reward.
I dropped a bit on the spot he usually liked to rub around in, he took a few whiffs, then just kind of meandered off.
I tried to shake up the bottle, rub the crap between my palms (as suggested to 'get the scent in the air') etc... He just doesn't care.
I don't know if this is bogus catnip, or if what he wasn't getting before was just something different all together.
I won't be buying this for them again, though.
I figured maybe if I tried some catnip it'd entice the cat to at least go near the lounger. I know that some cats don't respond to catnip, so I was taking a chance. However, put a small amount of cat nip on the chair and then looked out my window to find the cat at least acknowledging the chair and curled up around the bottom of the chair, again, not in it.
The cat hung out by the chair for about ten minutes hanging out on the ground stretching away, which is kind of unusual for it to be so chill for being an on-guard stray.
So, product works, packaging is cool, came as advertised, and we've only used just a pinch of the stuff, not much at all and gotten some pretty strong reaction to it.
Photo's: So, the first photo shows cat chilling, second photo is a day later, I guess the cat left some catnip to come back to, and now he's chilling again. He's kind of a lazy bum now who seems to be having a pretty chill day, but, at least he's close enough to take a picture next to his little recliner.
Update: we re-ordered recently, thought I'd share black kitty in his chair, he hangs out there now....we put a pinch of catnip on every 2-3 days, it's his new hangout.
Add'l Update: Sometimes when I haven't been around, the cat becomes a creeper and stares at me as I open the garage door. Added photo of it glaring at me as garage door was opening until I put out more catnip. I mean, he won't let me pet him and he hisses at me, but, it seems we now have a mildly abusive relationship to his advantage.
Oh, and he is in the chair all the time now.
Add*l, Add*l update...it's been a few years later, I still order the stuff. I think Black Kitty is the same Black Kitty, it's been up for debate, but he still likes it and will frequent the chair quite a bit. Does he still hiss at me? Absolutely. Does he give me any affirmation? Absolutely not. Do I still feed him and give him cat nip, and in return does he still frequent our porch? Yes. I still haven't had a bad batch that some people seem to reference.
